Thanks John VV,
I used the tux_dextop for vlc on CentOS 7. Yum priorities are setup for Base, Epel and tux_dextop in that order. I forget where I read about tux. I can dig out the source if you would like. It installed vlc with no ifs, and, buts nor conflicting libraries such as I had with CentOS 6. I have my notes from CentOS 6 if you are interested. That said..
The vlc install on CentOS 7 worked right out of the gate. I have played all manner of video files and mp3 files. The case at hand..
I have a Dell Inspiron 3050 - the little Tupperware sandwich box sized PCs - setup as a video player, connected to the big screen TV by HDMI. I have a low privilege account setup to auto-logon. The video files are accessed via a link on the Desktop - only a mouse is needed to navigate the thing. As there is no DVD drive in the tiny PC, the VIDEO_TS directory from the DVD was copied to the hard drive on the PC. I do not believe there is any encryption issue as the same files will play on my CentOS 6 physical PC, an Ubuntu 15.10 physical PC and an Ubuntu 15.04 virtual PC.
I administer the box remotely over ssh and load the files to be played over the WiFi connection. I had the PC setup with Ubuntu Mate 15.10, however, the WiFi connection was flaky. It would sometimes connect when a use logged in and sometimes not. I could not get it to connect before a user logged in. I had installed CentOS 7 just for a test and low and behold the WiFi connected immediately on boot! I bagged the 'buntu and went on with the project on CentOS. The minor annoyance described in the original post is my only issue.

I've had a nightmare trying to play Blurays on my computer for some time. Found this thread just now and gave it a shot. I am able to play some discs perfectly. Unfortunately, many discs I tried don't play. Here is what I did:

May 08, 2019  VLC is unable to open the MRL 'bluray:///E:/'. Check the log for details. You should be able to play BDs in VLC using the Media Open Disc Blu-Ray function. Time warner cable box codes for remote. If this is a 4k disk make sure to uncheck disk menus. Okay, the Mac (and Linux) procedure are documented in the OS-specific Forums. You use a series of symbolic links to do this. Unable to open blu ray. Reported by: Eodiv: Owned by: Priority: normal: Milestone. In Windows Opening a blu ray, mounted as V: using open disk selecting blu ray play. Both running Win 10 64 VLC 3.0. The issue is real, not a random local problem. I am having trouble narrowing it down because of lack of experience.

  • Downloaded VLC 64 bit. (VLC Version 3.0.1)
  • Downloaded and ran aacs-updater-2.1.1.0-x64-FULL-setup.exe as per Bob K above, same paths and whatnot. I have the DLL files he mentioned.
  • Downloaded and placed the KEYS file in Bob K's location.
Here is the result: either it works perfectly, menus and all, or I get an error like this one: https://i.imgur.com/M5Eaa2k.png.Vlc Unable To Open Mrl Blu Ray
I've opened the keys file and searched it. I think that perhaps the key for my particular blu ray simply isn't there. I see various keys with this anime's title, but I assume they are from some other release, like the Japanese release, or maybe an older English release. So if I had the 2009 release of this show it would play, but my 2012 release of this show isn't in the cfg file.
Is there a way to find the key for a bluray that won't play? I also have PowerDVD and Leawo, both of which can play these discs. Is there some way to extract the key from those players? Or perhaps I can contact the people who maintain the whoknowsmyname and tell them of the shows of mine that do not work?
Snap, I thought I was home free. Regardless, any help much appreciated.
