Each country has one of the four ideologies. These are difficult to change and affect under what circumstances a country can perform certain actions, and what happens to occupied territory.

Communism[edit]

Democracy[edit]

Democracy is a form of government in which the popular vote governs, directly or indirectly. It is characterized by a commitment to civil liberties.

Changing ideology[edit]

A country can change its ideology in four ways:

  • Having an election while another ideology has more than 50% support. This creates an event that enables a peaceful change of power without a civil war.

  • Executing a coup (see below)
  • Fighting and winning a civil war. The support of the conflicting ideology decides how much troops and states they get at the beginning.

This page lists the codes which may be inputted into the Console Window, a special debugging window which may be accessed on non-ironman games by hitting ^ or ° (key varies based on keyboard layout). Press the up or down arrow keys to traverse through previously executed commands. Many codes can be turned off by repeating the command, but sometimes reloading the save or exiting the game is necessary. Please note that many of these commands come in and out with each DLC making some of them not work.

Also of note, commands may not work in ironman games by design.

Country tags[edit]

Country tags[1] are case insensitive, but conventionally written in upper case eg. USA, CHI, ENG, SOV. Nations spawned in civil wars are given a tag in the range D01, D02, D03 and onwards depending on availability (note that D50 is the highest available tag).

You can see the country tag by entering 'tdebug' and hovering over a province of the country you want to know the tag of.

    Changing ideology[edit]

    A country can change its ideology in four ways:

    • Having an election while another ideology has more than 50% support. This creates an event that enables a peaceful change of power without a civil war.

    • Executing a coup (see below)
    • Fighting and winning a civil war. The support of the conflicting ideology decides how much troops and states they get at the beginning.

    This page lists the codes which may be inputted into the Console Window, a special debugging window which may be accessed on non-ironman games by hitting ^ or ° (key varies based on keyboard layout). Press the up or down arrow keys to traverse through previously executed commands. Many codes can be turned off by repeating the command, but sometimes reloading the save or exiting the game is necessary. Please note that many of these commands come in and out with each DLC making some of them not work.

    Country tags[edit]

    Country tags[1] are case insensitive, but conventionally written in upper case eg. USA, CHI, ENG, SOV. Nations spawned in civil wars are given a tag in the range D01, D02, D03 and onwards depending on availability (note that D50 is the highest available tag).

    You can see the country tag by entering \'tdebug\' and hovering over a province of the country you want to know the tag of.

    Changing ideology[edit]

    A country can change its ideology in four ways:

    • Having an election while another ideology has more than 50% support. This creates an event that enables a peaceful change of power without a civil war.

    • Fighting and winning a civil war. The support of the conflicting ideology decides how much troops and states they get at the beginning.

    Country tags[1] are case insensitive, but conventionally written in upper case eg. USA, CHI, ENG, SOV. Nations spawned in civil wars are given a tag in the range D01, D02, D03 and onwards depending on availability (note that D50 is the highest available tag).

    You can see the country tag by entering \'tdebug\' and hovering over a province of the country you want to know the tag of.
